SOCIAL MEDIA DETOX

Hello people out there, I have been following many bloggers, be it lifestyle bloggers or culinary bloggers or travel bloggers, it was always my thing to follow them and get inspired by the life they are living ! Well, it didn’t go so well, to be honest there were many times I got vexed unconsciously that I didn’t have a good enough life like the person out there in the internet world! 

Internet is loaded with information, characters, stories, entertainment , awareness, news , opportunities and much much more ! It’s a huge block of VIRTUAL world that makes us see the entire real world without any senses added to it ! It’s a world alright and a good one, but not the actual world we live in ! 

Senses are important, just in case you all have forgotten what they are - sense of sight, hearing, smell and touch. In social media , the sense of sight is crowded by photos, the sense of hearing is crowded by music and videos, the sense of smell- is tried to achieve by magical words captioned in a brilliant looking Biriyani photo, last the sense of touch- you get to touch the phone and zoom in and out and touch whichever part of the photo you want !!

You see how ridiculous this sounds, it’s even more so ridiculous the life we are living , enslaved unknowingly to the social media apps we so religiously open right after waking up and put down right before bed ! 

There are many days when I have got emotionally carried away by the not needed competition that I set for myself seeing thousands of people out there just posting and living lives which seemed so much better than mine ! Rightfully speaking, I literally ate my family members by my word and hidden frustration! Then one day, something happened, I deleted both my Facebook, Instagram, amazon prime , Netflix and every other app that kept me hooked on to my phone rather than the real life I was living! In other words it’s called social media detox! As crazy as it sounds, it completely changed my emotions, my way of thinking and my way of life in just a month ! 

Before this big transformation, I realised that I had clicked only 16 seconds video of my life, cause that is all that Instagram stories allow! The most beautiful moments of my life, were considered even by me as a moment to just share with thousands of people who I don’t know and I don’t genuinely care ! I lost big memories ! 

It’s not that social media is bad, that is not what I am saying here, what I am saying is there are many idols out there in the world, many addictions out there in the world,

but sometimes certain bad habits might just be an app away!

We easily spend an hour each day on social media, from our 12-15 hours of being awake everyday, it’s like a horrible habit, seeing stories when at a friends place, posting stories when at a friends place, it’s never personal anymore , it’s all public for all to see! I can’t believe there was a time when people didn’t wanna show the world what they did on an everyday basis, and there is a world now, which accepts that as normal! 

Maybe I am the only one in this world who looked at all of this the way I mentioned above, maybe things are different for people around the world ! 

So the thing is , I am loving my life now, I invest more time in real world , my world around my husband and kids and occasionally my family and friends ! My mind gets only the information and updates that it wants to know about people. My mind is thinking out of the box and is a lot calmer now. This blog is a result of all free time and calm mind.
